Photo Facial

As we age, fine facial blood vessels and irregular areas of hyperpigmentation often appear on the facial and non-facial skin exposed to sun.  Here at Carolina Cosmetics, we are pleased to offer a new, safe and effective way to eradicate broken facial capillary veins, red facial flushing, irregular pigmentation, and fine facial wrinkles.

Our new Intense Pulsed Light Photo Rejuvenation system is designed to combat the effects of sun and aging in a softer and gentler way.   Light energy is delivered through the skin removing facial redness, erasing pigmented spots, reducing pore size, and minimizing fine lines.

After one or two treatments, your skin will have more even tone and a smoother look and feel.  Sunspots will start to fade and pores will become less apparent.  Fine lines and wrinkles will soften over time.  These improvements continue with each treatment.  Patient with acne rosacea will see a reduction in facial redness as a result of each treatment.  A series of five or six photo facial treatments are given at 3-4 week intervals.  This procedure is associated with only mild discomfort. After the procedure patients may notice some facial pinkness, which may be covered with makeup.  These brief treatments are associated with no "down time" at all.  Patients can return to work or resume their normal activities immediately after the procedure.  In addition, this Intense Pulsed Light system can be used to safely treat aging and photo damaged skin on the neck, chest, legs and hands.

Non-laser Photorejuvenation is far more effective than creams, medications, or conventional lasers.

Frequently Asked Questions about IPL Photo Facial

What are IPL treatments like?

A minimum of 5 treatments are usually required, depending on the area being treated.  Treatments are spaced at three to four week intervals and the effects are cumulative.  Each session usually take 45 - 60 minutes and is administered in the comfort and privacy of our laser suite.  Most patients describe the sensation like the snap of a rubber band on the skin, as pulses of energy are delivered through a specially-designed hand piece.  After the treatment, the skin may appear a little reddened with a slight tingling or burning sensation that disappears within a couple of hours.

What results can I expect?

Patient with significant freckling and hyperpigmentation will notice that these blemishes will darken in appearance initially.  This darkening lasts for a few days as the pigment gets coarser and gently sloughs off.  After one treatment, the skin will have a more even tone with a smoother look and feel.  Sun spots fade, pore size decreases, broken capillaries disappear and the signs and symptoms of rosacea progressively fade away.  What remains is smoother, healthier, younger looking skin!

Does the IPL Photo Facial remove fine lines and wrinkles?

Using the powerful ND: Yag Laser to supplement your Photo Facial Therapy, fine lines and wrinkles can soften in appearance.  This laser works deeper to get to wrinkles.  This laser technology painlessly reduces wrinkles without ablating the skin.  These improvements are gradually and will continue to improve after each treatment.

Am I a candidate for Photo Facial Treatments?

The best candidates for IPL Photo Facial treatments are patients who desire to improve multiple imperfections in their skin.  Potential candidates include: patients who suffer from rosacea and experience flushing and redness of their skin; people with early aging changes and sun damage who desire more youthful appearing skin; patients who don't want to take time off work to heal from more invasive therapies; and people who have undergone recent chemical peels, laser resurfacing and facial surgeries (to assist in the healing process).  No other technology provides the long-term improvement in skin complexion and texture that the IPL PhotoFacial program does- all with no "downtime."
