The appearance of veins on the skin can be disturbing. The legs, arms and
face, (particularly around the nose) are common areas for prominent veins, also
known as telangectasias (tee-lan-jec-tay-jee-ah).
Laser treatment of veins works by targeting a specific pigment found in all
blood vessels, hemoglobin. The laser emits a pulse of energy that is
specifically absorbed by hemoglobin. Thus, large amounts of laser energy can be
directed specifically towards the veins and "collapse" the vessels, which causes
them to regress.
Usually, multiple treatments are required because blood contains factors to
open closed vessels. This is good for our overall health but can make cosmetic
vein removal difficult. This treatment is performed in the office setting and a
small amount of bruising from the newly collapse veins may occur.
Different lasers settings are used for different color veins. The IPL
Quantum Laser system allows for the treatment of both red veins, purple
veins, and blue/black veins!
The IPL Quantum system can also treat unsightly age spots (“liver
spots”) and poorly-healed scars. Age spots typically occur in sun-exposed
areas of the skin such as the face, neck, chest, back of hands, and arms.
Photorejuvenation using IPL is a non-invasive treatment that treats skin
damage without disruption of the skin's surface. Hence, no '"down time."
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) can safely and effectively, simultaneously treat
broken capillaries, benign brown pigment, age spots (sun-induced freckles),
mottled pigmentation, and poikiloderma. Please see the IPL Photo
